Branding itself as the only international hotel in Krabi, for now this is indeed the case, but not for long with the Sofitel and Hilton soon to open their doors too in the relatively near future. This increase of big name hotels in the area certainly highlights Krabi’s rise to what has been forecasted as one of Thailand’s future hotspots. However, in an area as scenically spectacular as Krabi it really doesn’t come as any surprise. But it’s not only about location. As one would expect from a long established name like the Sheraton, also on offer are an impeccable and eclectic selection of amenities, facilities and services provided by an equally accomplished team of staff.

A stunning expansive reception and lobby area complete with courteous and attentive staff poised to receive guests provides a good indication of what is to come. Minimalistic in design, fresh and invigorating and decorated with subtle earth tones, the lobby is accented by whites, grays and browns further complimented by giant glazed ceramic vases filled with fresh and vibrant water reeds situated at the base of every pillar. The center piece of the room however is undoubtedly the huge ceiling mounted abstract sculpture. On first impression it resembles a large corkscrew or insect cocoon clinging to the ceiling. The management however informed me that it is in fact a brass sculpture of a water droplet poised to fall to the ground below. Black concentric rings contrasted on the beige terrazzo floor both confirm and compliment the effect.

Commanding a great location on several hundred meters of beachfront next to glorious fauna and floral rich mangroves, the resort sits conveniently close to Krabi airport and town yet far enough away to ensure a feeling of rural seclusion. This fantastic mix of location, activities local to the area and the resorts professional ability to deliver them guarantees that guests can effortlessly do as little or as much as they like.
